Paris Olympics start – level 3

30-07-2024 07:00

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony was a grand celebration of French culture and diversity. It featured international stars like Lady Gaga and Céline Dion, who performed at iconic Parisian landmarks.

Over 300,000 people gathered along the Seine River to watch 205 national delegations parade in boats, beginning with Greece and ending with France. Despite heavy rain and initial challenges, such as suspected sabotage of France’s high-speed rail network, the event proceeded smoothly. Lady Gaga performed ‘Mon Truc En Plumes’ in a Moulin Rouge-style act, while Céline Dion made an emotional return with ‘I’Hymne à l’Amour’ from the Eiffel Tower.

The organizers skillfully highlighted Parisian monuments, promoting the national motto of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. The ceremony was an extravagant display that met the high expectations set by the organizers.

Difficult words: grand (large and impressive), sabotage (intentional damage or destruction), fraternity (a feeling of friendship and support).
