A young Australian woman named Holly Bowles died in Laos because of methanol poisoning. She was on holiday with her best friend, Bianca Jones, who also died.
Another victim was a lawyer from the UK, Simone White, and two young people from Denmark. An American man also died. They were in a town called Vang Vieng, popular with travelers. Some people who got sick ended up in hospitals in Thailand. Methanol poisoning is dangerous and can kill even with a small amount. The victims were staying at a hostel called Nana.
Many tourists are now leaving the town because of what happened. The news spread quickly; some people avoid Laos, but others are not worried. Travelers need to be careful and stay safe.
Difficult words: methanol (a harmful alcohol), poisoning (eating or drinking something what makes you sick or can kill you), victim (a harmed or killed person), avoid (to stay away from).
