The Brazilian president is in hospital – level 2
16-12-2024 07:00
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is recovering in a São Paulo hospital after emergency brain surgery.
The 79-year-old leader had bleeding in his head after he fell in October. The two-hour operation was successful, and doctors say Lula is stable. He is speaking and eating normally. Lula will stay in intensive care for 48 hours and may return to Brasília next week if all goes well. Everyone is watching his health closely.
Many people are wondering if Lula will be able to finish his term or run for reelection in 2026. Meanwhile, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin is handling Lula’s duties.
Difficult words: recover (to become healthy again), bleeding (losing blood from the body), intensive care (a place in a hospital where very ill people stay).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are people speculating about Lula's ability to finish his term or run for reelection in 2026 following his emergency brain surgery?
