Shooting near President Trump – level 2

01-05-2026 07:00

A scary incident happened at a big dinner in Washington, D.C.   A man tried to attack President Donald Trump with guns and knives. When the shooting started, agents rushed the President and his family to a safe place.

Many journalists and politicians hid under their tables because they were afraid. One security officer got hurt, but he is okay because he wore a special vest. The police arrested a 31-year-old man from California. He had a lot of weapons and was staying in the same hotel where the dinner happened. Now, the FBI is trying to find out why he did this. They want to know if he had help from other people.

This event is a big problem for security. It is not the first time someone tried to hurt President Trump. Because of this attack, the King of England might change his plans to visit America this week.

Difficult words: rush (to move very, very fast because you are in a hurry or in danger), hide (to go to a place where no one can see you), security (people whose job is to keep a person or a place safe).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why might the King of England reconsider his visit to America this week?
