African restaurants in London – level 1
17-02-2025 15:00
African food is becoming popular in London. One restaurant, Akoko, has a Michelin star. It mixes West African ingredients with modern cooking.
Aji Akokomi has the restaurant. He wants to create a fine-dining African restaurant. He cannot find one in London, so he makes Akoko. He can share high-quality African food here. Other restaurants, like Chisuru, are also helping African food grow. People from Africa feel happy to see their food in top restaurants. Others love trying new flavors.
Aji thinks that African food will keep growing. More West African restaurants are opening, and African food is becoming an important part of London.
Difficult words: popular (when many people like someone or something), ingredient (one of more parts of a meal), fine dining (a special and expensive style of eating).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What gap did Aji Akokomi identify in London's dining scene that prompted him to open Akoko?
