Czech Republic celebrates 20 years in the EU

There is a big party at Prague Castle. 20 years ago, the Czech Republic becomes a member of the EU.

The Prime Minister says that more countries should be in the EU, for example Ukraine. But these countries must follow rules. They must be fair and honest. The Czech President speaks at the party, too. He says that it is good for the country to be in the EU and NATO. The country is free and safe.

Other leaders want Europe to stay together. They say that Ukraine is part of Europe. The Ukrainian President hopes that Ukraine can join the EU soon. He thanks the Czech Republic for helping in the war with Russia.

Difficult words: member (a person or country which belongs to a group of other people or countries), honest (open), join (to become part of a group of people or things).
