David Attenborough is 100 years old – level 2

08-05-2026 07:00

Sir David Attenborough is turning 100 years old! His birthday is just today, on May 8. He is a world-famous filmmaker who spent his life teaching us about nature.

To celebrate, there are several new TV shows. One show looks back at his Greatest Adventure from the 1970s. He traveled a million miles and visited many countries to film animals. Some of these trips were dangerous, but they changed how we see the world. A new series called Secret Garden explores the animals that live in our own gardens. David wants to show us that we can all help nature in our backyards.

The biggest event is a concert and show at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Famous actors and singers will talk about how David inspired them. There will also be an orchestra playing music from his famous shows like Planet Earth. It is a big thank you to a man who does so much for the Earth.

Difficult words: filmmaker (a person who makes movies or TV shows), series (a set of TV programs with the same name and topic), backyard (an open area or garden behind a house).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
