Switzerland started their 2024 Euros with a 3-1 win against Hungary in Cologne.
Breel Embolo, back after a long injury, scored the final goal. Coach Murat Yakin was happy with Embolo’s return. Switzerland led 2-0 with goals from Kwadwo Duah and Michel Aebischer. Hungary scored once, but Embolo’s goal secured the win. Italy beat Albania 2-1 in Dortmund after letting in the fastest goal in Euros history. In Berlin, Spain won 3-0 against Croatia. 16-year-old Lamine Yamal became the youngest player in the Euros.
Switzerland will play Scotland next, and Hungary will play Germany. The knockout stage starts on June 29, and the final is on July 15 in Berlin.
