The global price of chicken is growing due to many reasons.

Ukraine is the biggest grower of corn and wheat, which is used to feed chicken. When the war in Ukraine started, it couldn’t export corn and wheat; then chicken feed became much more expensive. Another problem was bird flu happened in the main chicken countries like the US and UK. Since February in the US, farmers killed more than 38 million chickens and turkeys.

As the prices of chicken grow, countries want to save enough chicken for themselves. Some countries stopped chicken exports, but then the prices grew even more. In the past, chicken was very cheap, which is why it became so popular everywhere. Now, maybe it’ll cost as much as beef.

Difficult words: global (across the whole world), export (to sell things to another country), beef (cow’s meat).
