First woman becomes Sweden’s Prime Minister – level 2
30-11-2021 07:00
Last week, Sweden’s Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson became the country’s first Prime Minister.
In 2018, Stefan Lofven was the Prime Minister before Andersson, and he was able to form a government. Sadly, it will be much more difficult for Andersson because the political situation changed. Recently, immigrants caused many problems, and new parties came to the government. Andersson won the vote, but it was very narrow.
Andersson’s government has a small group in the parliament, and it seems that she will not be able to bring forward next year’s plans for spending.
Difficult words: immigrant (a person who comes to live in a foreign country), bring forward (to propose a plan or idea), narrow (a small win).
