Harry and Meghan Leave the Royal Family – level 2
16-01-2020 07:00
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan announced on Wednesday that they want to step back as members of the Royal Family.
They want to become financially independent; however, they plan to collaborate with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and other groups. In their statement, they said that they want to divide their time between the United Kingdom and North America to get more space and focus on new activities. In the past, the couple spoke about the problems with the British media when the tabloids started stories against Meghan. Harry then described how his mother, Princess Diana, became a victim of the tabloids.
Buckingham Palace said that they understand that Harry and Meghan want to change their way of life, but the discussions are at the start, and it can take some time to solve this difficult situation.
Difficult words: step back (to stop activity in something), collaborate (to work with someone), tabloid (a type of newspaper that has many pictures and short, simple articles that are mainly about crime, disasters and celebrities).
