Is Dubai still safe? – level 2

30-04-2026 07:00

For a long time, Dubai was the safest city in the Middle East. It is a very modern city with many tall buildings and luxury shops. People from many countries move there because they don’t have to pay taxes, and they feel safe.

But recently, there were attacks with rockets and drones. This makes people afraid, and the city is now waiting to see what happens next. Some people who moved to Dubai, like Canadians, still feel safe and want to stay. But other families are leaving and going back home. They are worried that the war will not stop.

Dubai is also a place where many poor workers come to work. Some people say these workers must work very hard for little money, and this is a big problem for the city’s image. Dubai’s success depends on being a safe place for business and travel. If the sea nearby is not safe for ships, the city will have less money. Many people love Dubai because it is a place where they can have a good life and a dream job. Now, the leaders of the city must show that Dubai is still a safe home for everyone.

Difficult words: luxury (something expensive and beautiful, but not necessary), poor (when you have very little money), success (when you reach what you wanted, or when you become rich and famous).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What issue concerning Dubai’s poor workers is harming the city’s image?
