Israel is attacked by Iran – level 3
04-10-2024 07:00
On Tuesday, Iran launched missiles toward Israel.
Air raid sirens went off across the country, and people were told to stay near bomb shelters. Alerts were sent to mobile phones and announced on TV. Some of the alarms were heard in places like Jerusalem and central Israel. Earlier, rockets were also fired from Lebanon. In answer, Israel started some ground operations in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces targeted villages in the south of Lebanon, from where people were told to evacuate. Hezbollah militants retaliated by launching many rockets at Israel.
As the fighting intensified, there were no immediate reports of casualties; however, the situation raised concerns that the conflict might spread into a regional war. Israel and the United States had previously warned that there would be severe consequences if Iran attacked.
Difficult words: air raid siren (a device that sounds an alarm to warn people of danger), retaliate (to fight back or respond with an attack), consequence (a result or effect, usually one that is unwelcome or unpleasant).
