ISS air leaks – level 1
11-06-2026 07:00
Five astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) have to go inside a smaller spaceship.
They do this because a Russian room on the station has small cracks. Air leaks out into space. Two Russian men work fast to solve the problem. The other five astronauts wait inside the SpaceX ship for two hours. They are safe there.
The space station is very old. It goes into space in 1998. It is like an old car, so it has problems sometimes. When other ships come to the station, they hit it hard. They make small lines in the walls. The astronauts practice for this danger every day. If the problem is very bad, they can close the door and fly away to Earth in one minute. But this time, nothing bad happens, and the astronauts go back to work.
Difficult words: crack (a thin line which breaks something), leak (when water or gas gets out from a container), danger (the possibility of suffering harm, injury, or damage).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How long did the astronauts stay inside the SpaceX ship while the two Russian men fixed the air leak?
