Macron visits Notre-Dame Cathedral – level 3
03-12-2024 15:00
French President Emmanuel Macron said the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was damaged by fire in April 2019, will give the world a shock of hope.
Macron visited the nearly completed site with his wife, Brigitte Macron, and the archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich. Chief architect Philippe Villeneuve guided them through the masterpiece, which has undergone extensive rebuilding over five years. Macron praised the enormous teamwork and dedication, calling it a model project achieved under immense pressure and tight deadlines. He highlighted how the restoration overcame complex challenges, using traditional and modern techniques to preserve the cathedral’s historic elements.
Notre Dame, one of France’s most iconic landmarks, is set to reopen soon, showing the collaborative effort of workers who contributed to this project of the century.
Difficult words: dedication (the willingness to give a lot of time and energy to something because it is important), immense (extremely large or great), collaborative (involving two or more parties working together).
