Mexico – Ecuador relations – level 1
10-04-2024 07:00
There is an attack Mexican embassy in Ecuador. Latin American countries, including Brazil, support Mexico.
Jorge Glas is Ecuador’s former vice president. He stays at the embassy. That is why the attack happens. Mexico stopped talking to Ecuador after the attack. Mexico says that nobody can attack an embassy.
Many countries in Latin America say that the attack is not right. Ecuador breaks the rules for how countries should act with each other. Mexico will ask for help from other countries. US officials ask the countries to talk about the problem and follow international rules.
Difficult words: embassy (an office for people who represent their country in another country), vice president (an official below a president), international (between countries).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What is the reason behind Mexico seeking help for the attack on their embassy in Ecuador and what actions are US officials suggesting to resolve the issue?
