People charged over Liam Payne’s death – level 2
07-01-2025 07:00
Liam Payne, the One Direction singer, died on October 6 after falling from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Five people are in trouble because of his death.
The hotel manager, Gilda Martin, receptionist Esteban Grassi, and Payne’s friend, Roger Nores, are charged with manslaughter. It means they didn’t take care of Liam when he was drunk. Two other people, Ezequiel Pereyra, who worked at the hotel, and Braian Paiz, a waiter, are charged with giving drugs to Liam. They found out that Liam bought drugs before the fall. The police think he fell while trying to leave his room.
A big court is handling this case because many people loved Liam Payne.
Difficult words: manslaughter (killing someone without planning it), drunk (losing control of yourself because you drank alcohol), charged (when authorities formally accuse someone of doing something wrong).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Who are the five people implicated in Liam Payne's death and what are they charged with?
