People in France protest against new PM – level 1
12-09-2024 07:00
Thousands of people in France protest. President Emmanuel Macron chooses a new prime minister. Macron chooses Michel Barnier. Barnier is a conservative politician. Many people are angry. They think that Macron does not care about the results of the election. In the election, no party wins enough seats to have full control. The leftwing group, NFP, gets the most seats. But Macron does not choose their candidate for prime minister. The protesters say this is not fair.
Barnier says that he will try to work with different political groups. Many people think the protests will continue.
Difficult words: prime minister (the boss of a government), conservative (someone who likes old ideas), candidate (a person who competes to get a job).
