Plastic Bags in NY – level 3

Last Friday, New York state lawmakers agreed to impose a ban on most kinds of plastic bags from retailers. The ban will go into effect in March of next year.

However, you could still get a plastic bag for food take-out, newspapers, clothes, and big plastic trash bags. Right now, California and Hawaii are the only American states with a ban on plastic bags.

Difficult words: impose (put), ban (the act of banning something – making it illegal), retailer (a shop or a person who sells something).
