18-03-2025 15:00
Asbestos is a strong material. It is in houses and many old buildings. People use it because it does not burn.
After many years, people find out that asbestos is very dangerous. Small pieces go into the air and can make people sick. If people breathe these pieces, they can have lung problems. Many countries stop using asbestos, but some old buildings still have it. When workers who repair or break buildings they must be careful. They wear special clothes and work safely. Some countries still use asbestos because it is cheap.
Doctors say that asbestos is bad for health. If people think they have asbestos at home, they should not touch it. They should call experts to take it away safely.
Difficult words: breathe (to take air into the body), lung (one of the two organs which we need to breathe), careful (trying hard not to do anything wrong or damage something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What risks can occur when small asbestos pieces become airborne, and what should someone do if they believe asbestos is present in their home?
