Spain’s first transgender soccer team – level 1

Fenix FC is a soccer team. There are only transgender men in it.
The team plays its first game in Spain. It is the first all-trans team in a men’s league. The team plays in a league in Catalonia. They play friendly games before, but now they are part of a real league. Transgender people in Spain still have many problems. In 2023, there are many attacks on them. Hugo Martinez makes the team. He wants a safe place for trans men to play. He has a hard time when he starts changing his gender.
The team loses their first game 19-0, but the players say that playing together is more important than winning.
Difficult words: transgender (a person who is born as a man but feels like a woman, or the other way round), league (a group of sports clubs which play each other), gender (the male or female sex).
