Teachers in Mexico protest – level 2
23-03-2026 07:00
Many teachers in Mexico are very angry with the government. They started a three-day strike to ask for more money and better rules for their jobs.
Thousands of people walked through the streets of Mexico City to the big central square. They say the president must talk to them now. If the government doesn’t listen, the teachers want to protest during the World Cup.
This protest is happening in many parts of the country. Some teachers block roads or stay in government buildings. In the capital, the teachers built a camp to stay for 72 hours. They want everyone to see their problem. They also visited embassies to show how strong they are. These teachers are ready to fight for their rights.
Difficult words: camp (a place where people stay in tents or simple shelters for a short time, often outside), embassy (a building where people from another country work and represent their own government), right (something that you are allowed to do).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What will teachers do during the World Cup if the government doesn’t listen to their demands?
