The EU warns of a war in Lebanon

Josep Borrell is the EU’s top diplomat. He says that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is almost a full war.

Many people die and many are hurt, including children. Over 490 people die. Many others have to leave their homes because of Israeli airstrikes. Borrell says that the attacks must stop. He asks for peace talks. He wants to stop the fighting from getting worse. Israel says they will keep attacking until their people in the north are safe.

Borrell warned that the situation is very dangerous. The EU worries that more conflicts can start in other places.

Difficult words: diplomat (an official who represents a country in another country), airstrike (an attack by a plane), peace talk (when two or more countries speak about ending a conflict or war).
