The Iranian football team does not have a visa – level 2
25-05-2026 15:00
The Iranian football team is preparing for the World Cup in Turkey, but they have a big problem. They don’t have the visas they need to enter the United States yet.
The tournament starts very soon, and Iran’s first match is on June 15th in Los Angeles against New Zealand. Usually, FIFA rules say that the host country must give visas to every team in the competition. But Iran faces strict US travel bans, which makes the situation difficult.
US President Donald Trump said that he is okay with Iran playing in the tournament, and FIFA leaders believe the team will get their visas. FIFA wants this World Cup to bring unity and happiness to people. The Iranian players have visa meetings at the US embassy in Ankara this Thursday, and they hope the waiting will end quickly.
Difficult words: visa (an official document which allows you to enter a country), host (a person or country that welcomes guests or organizes an event), unity (when people are together or work as a team).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What US policy complication is making it difficult for the Iranian team to obtain the visas they need for their match in Los Angeles?
