The oldest face in Europe – level 2

19-07-2022 07:00

Scientists found the bone of the face of the oldest human in Europe. The discovery happened in the mountains of northern Spain at a popular archaeological site.

Scientists found several bones there before, but this bone was the oldest one. It was about 1.4 million years old, and it belonged to the Homo genus. Scientists believed that Homo genus was the oldest species of humans who came to Europe.

We have very little evidence about humans from this period of time, so the discovery is very important. Scientists say that it will help them study how human faces evolved.

Difficult words: archaeological site (a place with animal or past human parts), species (a group of similar animals or plants), evolve (to change over time).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
