US Vice President speaks about EU politics – level 1
18-02-2025 15:00
At a big meeting in Germany, US Vice President JD Vance says that free speech in Europe is in danger. He also said that people in Europe do not want migrants to come. His words surprise and upset many European leaders.
Vance says that stopping free speech is worse than war. Some people think he says it because of criticism of the MAGA movement. He also says that far-right parties in Europe should be in governments. German leaders do not like his words at all.
What Vence says may cause problems between the US and Europe. Some people do not care. Others think that more problems will come soon.
Difficult words: free speech (when you can openly say what you think), danger (a situation when something bad could happen), criticism (saying that something or someone is bad).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How could insisting that stopping free speech is worse than war and supporting far-right parties entering governments lead to tensions between US and European leaders?
