The Pentagon is a part of the military in the USA government. People say that Pentagon officials asked the White House to send 10,000 more troops to the Middle East last Thursday.
People say that nothing is final and we do not known if the White House will approve this. The Pentagon wants more soldiers, ships and weapons in the area, especially around Iran.
The relationship between the USA and Iran is not good at the moment.
Difficult words: official (a worker, an officer), troops (soldiers), approve (say ‘yes’ to something).
