Worm festival – level 1
18-06-2024 15:00
The Worm Charming Championship is Britain’s strangest festival.
Every year, teams come to the Cornish coast. They get worms out of the ground. Some ways are scientific, some are not. Six-year-old Sunny and eight-year-old Luna win last year. They get 20 worms. They want to win again this year. The contest is difficult. Teams use different ways to make worms come out. Luna and Sunny copy birds. Others run around like seagulls. Worm must stay safe. Rules keep worms safe. Organizer Georgia Gendell says that the event is fun and serious. Worms are good for soil and food.
This year, the Tennessee Worm Wranglers win with 32 worms. Luna and Sunny do not win but have fun. They will come back next year.
Difficult words: contest (an event when persons or teams try to be better than the others), seagull (a large white bird), serious (not funny).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some of the ways that teams use to make worms come out during the Worm Charming Championship?
