Australia’s surfing industry and nature – level 1
27-09-2024 07:00
Surfing is a popular sport in Australia. Every year, it brings about 2 billion dollars to the country’s economy.
Surf breaks are the places where the waves form. These areas are in danger. Things like climate change and problems with the coast are bad for these areas. Countries like New Zealand and Peru have rules. They look after the surf breaks. But Australia needs to do more.
Surfing is important because it helps the economy. It makes people happy, too. Many people, from beginners to experts, love to surf. Businesses near the beach make money from it. Surfing is special because it brings people closer to nature.
Difficult words: economy (the system of money in a country), form (to make or create), danger (a situation where something bad can happen).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some of the threats to surf breaks in Australia and why is it important for the country to protect these areas?
