Danish PM attack – level 1

12-06-2024 07:00

A 39-year-old Polish man attacks Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The attack happened in Copenhagen. Frederiksen has a small neck injury. Police arrest the man for 12 days. The woman thanks people for their support. She needs time with her family now. Many leaders in Europe say that the attack was very bad. Danish police say that the man is drunk and on drugs. He does not know that the woman is a prime minister. Police do not think it was a political attack.

The attack happens just before the EU elections. This is one of many recent attacks on politicians in Europe.

Difficult words: prime minister (the leader of a government), drunk (when you drink too much alcohol and cannot speak or walk properly), recent (happening not long ago).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What is the possible motive behind the attack on Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and how does it relate to other recent attacks on politicians in Europe?
