Early digital art – level 1
02-12-2024 07:00
The Electic Dreams is an exhibition at Tate Modern in London. It shows digital art from the 1950s to the 1990s.
Artists use computers and programs to create these works. Some people worry about technology and its effects at that time. It is still a big question today with AI.
The exhibition includes Harold Cohen’s simple art. It also shows Samia Halaby’s moving paintings from the 1980s. Halaby’s art looks at problems with land and who owns it, like in Palestine.
Artists use some things which the military uses. They use them to create, not destroy.
Difficult words: exhibition (a display of things for people to see), digital (relating to computers and the internet), military (soldiers), to destroy (to damage or hurt something so badly that you cannot use it anymore).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some of the themes explored in Samia Halaby's digital art displayed at the Electic Dreams exhibition?
