Looking after children in Gaza – level 2

10-01-2025 15:00

Amal Alabadla lives in Gaza and had her son Mohamed on October 7, 2023. Her older son, Noah, was 18 months old at the time.

Amal is going through bombing, food shortages, and moving from place to place while taking care of her children. Her husband works far away in the West Bank and can’t come home, so he never met Mohamed. Amal spoke about escaping bombing and living in shelters. She tries to be strong for her children but feels very unhappy inside.

Israel says it doesn’t attack people and is fighting terrorist groups. Amal says her children’s smiles give her hope and strength to keep going.

Difficult words: shortage (not enough of something), escape (to get away), shelter (a safe place to stay).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What challenges does Amal Alabadla face while living in Gaza and taking care of her children?
