Pope Francis is back in the Vatican – level 2
25-03-2025 15:00
Pope Francis came back to the Vatican after staying in hospital for five weeks because of pneumonia.
The 88-year-old pope had serious health problems. Doctors say he will need two months of rest to recover fully. After leaving the hospital, he appeared in public, smiling and waving at people. He was in a wheelchair and looked weak. His face was swollen, and he had bandages on his arms. He thanked a woman who had brought flowers for him while he was in hospital.
Pope Francis also had problems with his voice because of the long illness. Doctors said it would take time for him to feel better.
Difficult words: pneumonia (a lung disease), recover (to get better after an illness), bandage (a piece of cloth which you wear around an injury).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What physical details and actions revealed that the pope was still recovering?
