Racist text messages – level 1
12-11-2024 15:00
In the United States, some people are worried about mean text messages.
Black Americans in many states get these messages. These messages say hurtful things about Black people. Many people are upset. Authorities are trying to find out who sends these messages. They come from fake numbers. It is hard to know who is behind them.
One official, Liz Murrill, gets a message too. She is not Black. She is helping to find out who sends the messages. People are worried that these messages can bring problems. Community leaders are asking everyone to stay calm and show love, not hate.
Difficult words: mean (not nice), hurtful (hurting someone’s feelings), fake (not real).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What actions are authorities taking in response to the hurtful messages being sent to Black Americans in many states?
