Racist text messages – level 2
12-11-2024 15:00
Recently, Black people in many US states received racist text messages. It made them feel worried and anxious. These messages contained hurtful words about Black people and said they should report to a plantation to work.
The messages were anonymous, so it is unclear who is behind them. Authorities are looking into the case.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill was one of those who received the message, even though she is white. Monae Miller, a publicist in Atlanta, said she also got one and was shocked by it. Black leaders are asking people to stay peaceful and show love to stop more hate and anger.
Difficult words: anxious (feeling or showing worry or fear), hurtful (hurting someone’s feelings), anonymous (when an unknown person does something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What was the reaction of Monae Miller, a publicist in Atlanta, upon receiving one of the racist text messages?
