The Dalí Museum in Florida – level 2
31-03-2025 07:00
The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, is home to over 2,400 works by Salvador Dalí.
Dalí was a famous surrealist painter who mixed real and dream-like images. He once said he would never die, and in a way, his art keeps him alive. The museum has a special show, Dalí Alive 360, where visitors can feel surrounded by his work. Classical painting and the ideas of Sigmund Freud inspired Dalí and his paintings. His famous melting clock painting is in New York, but many other pieces are in Florida because two collectors, Elanor and Reynolds Morse, loved his work and gave their collection to the city.
The museum opened in 1982 and now welcomes over 300,000 visitors each year. Dalí’s art still amazes people today.
Difficult words: surrealist (dream-like style), surrounded (having things or people around), amaze (to make someone be surprised or wondering).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What immersive experience allows visitors to feel completely surrounded by a surreal mix of real and dream-like visuals, and what influences are evident in this artistic approach?
