What dopamine does to our brain – level 1

26-03-2025 07:00

We often use our phones too much. But we know that it is bad for us.

This happens because of a chemical in our brain called dopamine. Dopamine makes us feel happy and motivated. When we scroll on our phones, our brain gives us dopamine. It makes us want to do it again.

But over time, our brain gets used to it. The brain gives us less dopamine. This can make it hard to focus and enjoy other activities. Too much time on devices can also make us feel stressed and anxious.

Difficult words: motivated (feeling that you want to do something), to focus (to look at, listen to, or think about only one thing), anxious (feeling nervous or worried).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How does the brain's release of dopamine during phone scrolling affect our motivation and focus over time?
